The monograph Tourismscapes of Difference lays a historical, methodological, anthropological and sociological foundation for discussing the collective and individual gaze of the tourist on tourist space. Through the photographic gaze it reveals the wholeness of meaning and the complexity of tourist space, the features that make it attractive, and the wishes and expectations of its visitors.

Drawing on systems theory, network theory and phenomenology, the monograph builds theoretical constructs that contribute to the development of tourism science. It also presents practical ways of developing the attractiveness of tourist space, outlines the needs, wishes and expectations of visitors, and anticipates future trends in tourism services.

The book is written for tourism students, tourism researchers, managers, entrepreneurs, planners and developers of tourism services, and everyone working in tourism marketing.

From the reviews

“Authors of the monograph present tourism in a fascinating way addressing the issue of contemporary tourism. Especially in the part where they introduce the photographic gaze of the »traveling mankind«. They add new value to the meaning and the significance of the tourismscapes. They lead us to the recognition that we have to learn anew how to understand the spaces of modern tourism.”
